Maria Belen Rivarola
Lyric Soprano
ABOUT MARIA BELEN
Attended a BA in Rosario (Santa Fé, Argentina) at Facultad
de Bellas Artes de la Universidad Nacional and graduated
in Buenos Aires at Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón,
her first vocal studies were with Mtro Horacio Amauri Pérez,
while she currently works with Mtra Rozita Zozoulia in
Buenos Aires and with Mtro Gerald Martin Moore in New York
(vocal teacher & consultant; recitalist with Renée Fleming).
Beyond the main lyric traits (warm quality, freshness,
beautiful color, pristine and full timbre, turning brighter
as required), her voice also encompasses a quantity of
the lyric-dramatic –spinto- attributes (power, stamina,
technical prowess and agility), thus allowing her
to incipiently portray additional roles such as
Agathe (Der Freischütz), Amelia (Un ballo in maschera),
Leonora (Il trovatore), Cio-Cio San (Madama Butterfly),
Mimì (La Bohème), la Contessa (Le nozze di Figaro)
and Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), as detailed
below in the repertoire.

Exceptionally gifted, talented and possessor of
a true Verdi soprano voice.
Conveys innocence, vulnerability and pathos, as required
for the portrayal of the endearing lyric roles; yet
she is capable of deploying a considerable technical arsenal of
interpretation capacities for the lyric-dramatic characters.
She has performed in theaters and opera companies
all over Argentina, including Teatro Colón of Buenos Aires.
In Buenos Aires she has performed in several opera companies, in roles including: Leilà (Les pescheurs de perles) at the “Teatro Roma, Avellaneda”; Nanetta (Falstaff), Ännchen (Der Freischütz), Clarice (Il mondo della luna), Suor Genovieffa (Suor Angelica), Anna (Anna Bolena), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Elvira (Ernani) and Musetta (la Boheme) for “Buenos Aires Lírica”; Anna (Anna Bolena) for “ONG Clásica del Sur”, Antonia (Les contes de Hoffmann) for “Juventus Lyrica”; Musetta (La Boheme) and Vitellia (Clemenza di Tito) in Tucuman and Violetta (La Traviata) in Chile. For the concert stage she has performed as soloist in the Mozart and Brahms Requiem, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Dvorak and Rossini’s Stabat Mater, Beethoven´s Ninth Symphony and the Messe Solennelle Sainte-Cécile by Gounod.
In 2017 she obtained her degree as a singer in the Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón and made her debut at Teatro Colon of Buenos Aires in the premier of Dvorak’s opera Rusalka. In the same year she won the Alejandro Cordero Vocal Competition performing at the Argentinian Embassy, Manhattan School of Music and Americas Society in New York City. In April 2018 she obtained the first prize in the prestigious Maria Callas Vocal Competition in Brazil, and also won the 2018 Dr. Sigall International Vocal Competition in Viña del mar, Chile.
