ABOUT PETER
Swiss lyric-spinto tenor.
​
Studied Music and Theatre at the Conservatory of Bern, in Switzerland.
Subsequently, he was coached by KS Nicolai Gedda for four years on a
weekly basis, profiting from the singer’s broad experience.
Has recently worked with conductors Marc Tardue and Giuliano Betta
as well as the mezzo-soprano Larissa Schmidt, as vocal coach.
Since March 2017 he is completing the italian coaching with
Enrico Maria Cacciari and Andrea del Bianco (Opera Zurich),
and since April 2018 with Maestro Massimo Morelli (Lucca).
His repertory includes Radamès, Manrico, Duca, Cavaradossi, Pinkerton, Turiddu, Leicester, Don José, Hoffmann, Romeo, Bénédict, Belmonte, Tamino, Max and many others, as well as operetta roles like Tassilo, Edwin, Mister X, Erbprinz Sándor, Barinkay and Eisenstein.

Peter Bernhard has performed with important conductors such as
Robin Stapleton, Anthony Inglis, Helge Dorsch, Mario Venzago,
Giuliano Betta, Marc Tardue, Henrik Nánási, Mark Foster,
Theodor Guschlbauer, Jürg Henneberger, Thomas Kalb and Jos Meier,
as well as renowned stage directors like Giancarlo del Monaco,
Hans Neuenfels, Andreas Baesler, Bruno Berger-Gorski,
Thomas Wünsch, Anette Leistenschneider, Pavel Fieber, Jasmin Solfaghari, Frank B. Gottschalk, Thilo Reinhardt and Dr. Ulrich Peters.

In year 2007 Peter Bernhard founded the Oper Schenkenberg, in Switzerland. He leaded it very successfully as its director for ten years and managed it to three big production successes (2010 Carmen,
2013 Il Trovatore, 2016 Rigoletto) with great reviews from Opernglas, Opernwelt, Wiener Merker, Opera Milano and the Opera Magazine at Amsterdam as well, as all the renowned Swiss Daily Papers
like NZZ, Tagesanzeiger, Basler Zeitung, AZ-Medien AG
and the Schweizer Fernsehen SRF.
Besides his vocal and musical abilities, he has impressed the audience with his acting skills. His intensity and his willingness to go to extremes are always appreciated by stage directors and by the audience. Peter Bernhard speaks perfectly high German as well as English, Italian and French (second mother tongue). He also speaks some Spanish.
Has performed at Oper Köln, Stadttheater Basel, Theaters of Augsburg (permanently during four years), Regensburg, St. Gallen, Luzern, Biel-Solothurn (permanently during three years) and at different summer festivals such as the Classic
Openair in Solothurn (2001, 2007), the Opernfestspiele Heidenheim (2008-2010), the Musik und Theater Saar near Saarbrücken and three times at the Operette Leuk. In 2005 he toured through Germany with the London Philharmonic
Orchestra and gave concerts in Cologne, Nuremberg, Frankfurt and Bremen. During recent years he has also performed as a freelancer in Argentina (Opera Festival Buenos Aires), in Italy (Florence, Lucca, Rovigo),
in Spain and Mallorca and in Norway
(West Norwegian Opera Bergen).
